A regular question that I get asked is, "Do I need to be on every platform to succeed?" But honestly, this could be the reason why you are burnt out, still not making money on social media, and the reach isn't what you think it is.

I'm reading the Pew Research today, and I see that Facebook and YouTube are still dominating, with 71% of Americans using Facebook regularly.

Now, looking at the image that I had attached to this email just proved that it's not a matter of which one you should be on because, where is everybody? Everybody's everywhere, as you can see. Now if everybody is everywhere, how do you know which one to actually choose?

It all comes down to intent. You see, I've been focusing on YouTube this whole year, not because everyone's on it, but because I wanted my content to live longer than a week. I chose based off my intentions, not the audience size.

And data can be deceiving because even though the Pew data shows us Facebook leads in usage, it's not talking about how often a person is on Facebook. And let's be honest, you may have picked one of the social media platforms that you're on based off FOMO instead of strategy. You saw some other creator doing amazing or everybody else talking about a certain platform, and you may have jumped on it. That's okay. I've done that too.

But today, let's use the I.N.T.E.N.T. Method to choose what platform you should be on for 2026 strategically.

I - Identify Your Content Styleโ€‹
Are you naturally better at short-form or long-form? Video, photo, written, or audio? Don't fight your natural strengths, amplify them.

N - Name Your Intentionsโ€‹
Why are you really on social media? Brand building? Direct sales? Community? Your intention determines your platform, not audience size.

T - Test Your Consistency Capacityโ€‹
Be honest, can you actually maintain quality content on multiple platforms? Better to dominate one than be mediocre on five.

E - Evaluate Content Longevityโ€‹
Do you want your content to be discoverable for years (YouTube, Pinterest) or create immediate engagement (TikTok, Instagram Stories)? Match your goals to platform behavior.

N - Navigate Your Natural Creation Processโ€‹
What's your most natural way of creating? If talking comes easy, focus on video/audio platforms. If writing flows, prioritize text-based platforms.

T - Trust Your Strategic Choiceโ€‹
Once you choose based on intention and natural strengths, commit fully. I put my all into YouTube, and it paid off.

Platform choice isn't about where the most people are, it's about where YOU can be most authentic and consistent.

For 2026, what platform or platforms are you going to be concentrating on?
