๐Ÿ“ฐ What's Poppin

A week ago, I was sitting inside the Meta headquarters.

Not because I pitched a deal or planned a trip, but because content took me there. That's the thing about building in public: sometimes the room finds you.

So when Meta dropped a major update to their standalone app this spring: memory, three new modes, vibe coding, free image and video generation...I felt like it was on me to actually test it. On live. In real time. In front of everybody.

BUT I went in skeptical.

Because the old Meta AI was trash. I'll just say it. When you've already got Claude and ChatGPT offering free plans that run circles around anything Meta had, there was no reason to switch. It felt like showing up to a cookout knowing the potato salad is going to be mid.

But here's the thing: I kept seeing people in my community ask about it. And I kept giving an opinion based on a version I tested months ago.

That's not fair. And that's not how I operate.

So I downloaded the new version, pulled it up on live, and tested everything...

Here's what I found: Shopping? Straight A+. It categorized products by actual need, pulled in creator videos about those products, and wasn't obviously pushing Meta's own shops. That surprised me.

Vibe coding? I built my first video game. "Lions Boardwalk Dash" โ€” 3D lion, Virginia Beach boardwalk, seagull villains ..in a couple of minutes, for free. Is it a good game? No. But it exists. I made it.

Free image and video? I animated a Lego photo. I got Nipsey and Tupac's distant cousins lip-syncing to Michael Jackson. For free. Okay, Meta!

Trip planning? It confidently told me to book Spirit Airlines. Spirit shut down May 2nd. When the AI is hallucinating flights for a carrier that doesn't exist anymore, you can't trust it for anything with real stakes.

Here's the reframe that landed for me after all of it.

The Free Starter Framework

The way I think about free AI tools โ€” and where Meta AI actually fits:

๐Ÿ”น IDEATE - Use free tools to pull the idea out of your head. Meta AI, free ChatGPT, whatever's available. Get the rough version down fast. Don't spend premium credits on rough versions.

๐Ÿ”น PROTOTYPE - Build a quick, imperfect version of the concept. My arcade game isn't a real game, but building it helped me understand what I actually wanted. That clarity is the value, not the output.

๐Ÿ”น VALIDATE - Stress test the idea before you invest real time in it. Does this trip plan make sense? Does this content angle land? Free tools let you iterate fast. They're not for final execution.

๐Ÿ”น EXECUTE - Bring in your paid stack for the version that matters. This is where your trusted tools close the deal.

Free tools aren't inferior. They're a different layer in the pipeline.

Use Meta AI. Let it help you figure out what you actually want before you spend time or money building it properly.

Claude Cowork is quietly becoming an all-in-one workspace, and the finance plugins are the biggest move yet.

Anthropic just partnered with Intuit to put TurboTax, QuickBooks, Credit Karma, and Mailchimp directly inside Claude. That means you can now pull your QuickBooks data into a Claude conversation and ask it to break down your cash flow, run profitability analysis, or benchmark your numbers against your industry...without exporting a single spreadsheet.

For creators running their own businesses: Credit Karma is in there, too. Real-time credit score insights and cash flow tracking, right inside the same tool you're already using to write and create.

On top of the Intuit partnership, Anthropic dropped 10 finance agent templates inside Cowork...things like a month-end closer, a general ledger reconciler, and a statement auditor. They deliver outputs directly into Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

And it's not just finance. Cowork now connects to Uber, Spotify, Instacart, Tripadvisor, Audible, and creative tools like Blender and Ableton.

The pattern is clear: Claude Cowork isn't just a chatbot anymore. It's becoming the one workspace that talks to everything else.
