A friend of mine (Connie S. Falls) always reminds me:
"The best creators don't rely on inspiration at all. They rely on systems."
I remind myself of this quote when I am drawing a blank and I don't know what content to create. I used to be sitting there waiting for the perfect idea to strike, getting frustrated when nothing came.
I was at my lowest creative point last year, and I remembered this book called "The Artist Way" that makes you write three pages every single day. Not about anything specific...just write.
I'm thinking, "I'm not the greatest writer, but I can talk."
So I grabbed my phone, opened Notion (because it has AI meetings that transcribe), and just started talking. No plan, no structure. Just whatever was on my mind about why I felt creatively stuck.
The surprise? By the time I finished rambling for 10 minutes, I had five different content ideas just from processing my thoughts out loud. It was that moment I created the I.D.E.A.S. Method.
...and if you are creatively stuck right now, use it:
I - Input Your Thoughtsโ
Grab your phone and record an audio note or use Notion's AI meetings feature. Talk about whatever's on your mind: your frustrations, observations, random thoughts. No filter, just speak. If you are better at writing, write.
D - Dump It Into AIโ
Take that audio transcription or picture of your writing and drop them into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Notion AI (which has all three) with this prompt:
Read this and come up with 3-4 content ideas based on my thoughts and use my tone and voice.
E - Explore Your Archivesโ
When completely stuck, look at your old content. Not everyone has seen it. Repurpose what worked before while you give your brain time to reset.
A - Analyze Your Analyticsโ
Check your top-performing content and ask AI:
Give me similar ideas based on what's been working for my audience.
S - Store Everything in Your Systemโ
Create your "Idea Bank" - whether it's Notes app, Notion, or a physical notebook. Every random thought, every shower idea, every "what if" moment goes in there for rainy days.
Here's what changed everything for me: I stopped waiting for inspiration and started creating systems to access what was already in my head.
Not even the best creators know what to create every single day off the top of their heads. The difference is that they have systems in place for when their mind goes blank.
While everyone else is staring at blank screens, you could be using the I.D.E.A.S. Method to never run out of content again.
The creators who never seem to run out of content aren't more creative than you ...they just have better systems than you.
