LinkedIn just dropped some major video tips, and I need y'all to pay attention because this platform is not playing around anymore!
Here's the thing - LinkedIn reported that video watch time rose 36% year-over-year in 2024. But what's even crazier is that short-form video creation is growing at twice the rate of other post formats.
The TikTok-ification of LinkedIn is happening whether we like it or not!
But before you go reposting your TikToks to LinkedIn, let me break down what LinkedIn ACTUALLY wants from creators:
What LinkedIn Users REALLY Want
LinkedIn straight up said their members come to the platform to:
β’ Learn new skills
β’ Network with professionals
β’ Find inspiration
This ain't the place for your dance challenges... so leave that on IG and TikTok
So how do you create videos that actually perform? Here's what LinkedIn recommends:
β
Keep It Short & Sweet
15-30 seconds for awareness content
Under 2 minutes for deeper engagement
Don't drag it out just to make it longer
Format For Mobile (This Is KEY)
Use square (1:1) or vertical (9:16) formats
These perform significantly better than landscape
Optimize for people scrolling on their phones
Hook Them FAST
You only have 3 seconds to grab attention
Start with your strongest point
Use pattern interrupts to stop the scroll
Make It Accessible
Always add captions/subtitles
Keep text overlays concise
Use eye-catching thumbnails
But here's what most people miss - LinkedIn specifically mentioned that QUALITY MATTERS.
"Blurry visuals or poor audio will immediately lose credibility among LinkedIn's discerning audience."
This ain't TikTok where raw, unfiltered content sometimes performs better. LinkedIn users expect professionalism!
What This Means For YOU
Here's how to actually implement this:
Create LinkedIn-specific content
Don't just repost from other platforms
Speak to professional pain points
Position yourself as a thought leader
Invest in basic quality
Good lighting (window light works!)
Clear audio (a $30 lapel mic is enough)
Stable camera (please use a tripod!)
Focus on providing value
Share industry insights
Teach something useful
Tell professional stories
Include a clear call-to-action
What should viewers do next?
Make it easy to connect with you
Guide them to your profile/website

β π AI Alley
In this week's AI Alley, I want to continue giving you prompts so you can make your own FIRE images inside of ChatGPT that will help you create content that stands out. First let me show you how I made this Kendrick Lamar one
Prompt: Hyper-realistic cinematic portrait. Kendrick Lamar alone against a dark background. Kendrickβs face is revealed beneath a hyperrealistic Tupac's mask. Kendrick Lamar tries to reveal his real face by pealing off the Tupac mask half way. The maskβs material looks realistic like a real skin, while Kendrick Lamarβs real skin is rougher, showing natural pores, slight imperfections, and a subtle shine from sweat. His expression is intense and defiant as he uses one hand to lift the mask, exposing roughly half of his own face and leaving the other exact half from mouth and nose and eyes covered by the mask. The difference between the synthetic look of the mask and the lifelike details of Kendrick Lamarβs face is striking. Dramatic but natural lighting, RAW camera aesthetics, minimal composition. The focus is solely on Kendrickβs face and the mask being removed, no other faces or characters present.
Have your favorite video game character play its own game
Prompt: Grungy analog photo of [character name] playing [game title] on a PlayStation 1, displayed on a 90s CRT TV in a dimly lit bedroom. They're sitting on the floor in front of the TV, holding a PlayStation 1 controller in one hand, with [signature item or accessory] beside them. The character is looking back at the camera mid-action while the game is visible in the background. Candid paparazzi flash photography, raw and unedited.
But I did a mini masterclass for you on how you can make infographics, flatlays, quotes and more inside of ChatGPT. Watch this before it goes public and let me know:
π€« I did a very small surprise restock on the Lions Behaviors hat (Lion OG). It has sold out TWICE now, but this is only for my readers. This will get you inside the LB exclusive community, access to challenges and content embeded in the hat.
So you already know you have to email me back about your biggest takeaway from this week's Content Corner take a screenshot and tag me in your stories (or Threads) so I know you liked this week's content. If not, I'll see you next Friday. Same time, same corner.
I'll Holla,
Nicky S
