π° What's Poppin
I was watching Made on YouTube, and Paddy Galloway got asked how a brand new creator gets their first 1,000 subscribers.
β
His answer: post more. People grossly underestimate how many videos it takes to break out.
Then he pointed at Marques Brownlee, sitting right next to him. First video in 2009. About 1,800 videos since.
And I laughed. Bc I already did the 1,000 videos part.
My first channel was a podcast channel. Over 1,000 videos. And sometimes it was hard to break 100 views.
That was me.
So when somebody tells you "just post more," I need you to hear the other half from somebody who actually tried it.
Now, Paddy is right. Most new creators don't post nearly enough. He told a story about a creator stuck on their 21st thumbnail with under 1,000 subscribers. That's real, and if that's you, go post.
But 1,000 uploads of the same thing isn't 1,000 reps.
It's one rep. Done 1,000 times.
I wasn't looking back. Same format, same packaging, same everything, every week. I was consistent at not learning.
Here's what I realized: a rep only counts if you take something from it.
On this channel, I did it differently. Fewer videos, but every one taught me something. Packaging first, then retention. That's how I got to 50K in two years, after a whole channel that never broke through.
And this matters more now, bc YouTube just raised the bar.
Starting February 1, 2027, new channels need 8,000 watch hours in the last 12 months to join the Partner Program. That's double today's 4,000. Or 20 million Shorts views in 90 days, also double. If you're already monetized, you're good on long-form.
If you're new, you can't afford 1,000 videos of not learning. You need every upload to count.
Let me break it down:
π₯οΈ Reps With Receipts
πΉ Step 1: Post it. Paddyβs right about this part. 3 thumbnails max, pick one, publish. Volume is the entry fee.
πΉ Step 2: Read the receipt. 48 hours after every upload, open Studio and write down ONE number: click-through rate or how many people stayed past 30 seconds. One number. Not the whole dashboard.
πΉ Step 3: Change ONE thing. Next video, adjust only what the receipt pointed at. New title style. Tighter first 30 seconds. One change, so you actually know what worked.
πΉ Step 4: Keep a rep log. Video, number, what you changed. After 10 videos youβll see your pattern. After 30, youβll stop guessing.
Volume gets you in the game. Learning keeps you in it.
So be honest with me: are you under-posting, or posting without looking back? Email me back. I read every one.
π AI Alley
This one is just fun... and low-key useful.
I took my lion character, the one in the CREATE sweatshirt, and turned him into a gold enamel pin with one sentence.
β
Let me know if you try this. I have more prompts inside of Lions Behavior.β
Here's how. Upload any photo first: your face, your pet, your logo, your mascot, your product. Then paste this:
Turn just the subject into a gold enamel pin. It's a minimal photo of the pin on a desk, no other items.
That's it. One sentence.
What surprised me: I gave it a whole character sheet with multiple angles, and it pulled out ONE pose and built the pin from that. Gold outline, enamel fill, the chain, the sneakers, all of it.
Make one and send it to me. I want to see what pins you make.
