I made a post on Threads this week that said not everything AI makes is slop. It hit 22,000 views, and there were a lot of folks who saw it who told me I was wrong. Everything AI makes is slop, end of story.
So I did something. I asked Claude to Steelman the other side. Build the strongest case against me.
And Steelman isn't a tool or a feature, it's literally just a word you type...it tells Claude to make the other side's case bulletproof.
It came back with this:
AI slop isn’t made by AI. Slop is made by people who stopped caring. AI just made it cheaper to not care.
That’s a bar. And honestly, that’s the whole lesson.
The tool was never the problem. The button was never the problem. Slop shows up when you stop bringing vision and just post whatever the model spits out.
So here’s how I make AI content that doesn’t look like AI. Four moves.
🔹 Vision before button. Decide what you’re actually trying to create before you generate a single thing. No point of view going in means you’re just making a lower-quality version of what’s already out there.
🔹 Look outside your niche. I pull from outlier videos that have nothing to do with my lane, then bring that energy back to my topic. That’s how you stop sounding like every other creator copying the same five people.
🔹 Feed it YOU. My YouTube agent quietly stopped pulling from my own Notion data and started running on its own brain. Two videos underperformed before I caught it. Now I ask it one question every week.. where did you get that answer from? Check your AI. Sometimes AI defaults to what it knows instead of what you taught it.
🔹 Edit, then AB test. I dropped the fake shock-face thumbnails. Now I test the organic version against the loud one and let the data decide. Don’t ship the raw output. The edit is where your fingerprint goes.
That’s it. Vision, outside inspiration, your data, your edit.
AI didn’t make the slop. The person who stopped caring did.
